$52.7 Million Renovation Underway at Stone Creek Apartments
Atlantic Housing Foundation, the nonprofit that has owned Stone Creek Apartments in Lewisville since 2005, has closed $52.7 million in financing to give the 200-unit community its biggest makeover yet. The 1984-built property will get new interiors, upgraded amenities and a refreshed pool area, with work already underway.
Atlantic Housing Foundation operates similar affordable housing communities across North Texas, and Stone Creek has offered one and two-bedroom units to Lewisville families for four decades. The renovation is meant to extend the life of the property and keep it competitive as an affordable option in a rental market where prices keep climbing.

Where Things Stand on the I-35E/Main Street Bridge Project
The $105 million TxDOT project rebuilding the Main Street (FM 1171) bridge over I-35E and widening about 1.3 miles of the interstate through Lewisville is still grinding toward the finish line. Crews are currently building new retaining walls, drilling shafts for the piers that will support the widened bridge, and paving new frontage roads on both sides of the interchange.
TxDOT has periodically closed lanes, and at times the entire Main Street bridge, on weekends to pour new bridge deck sections, so drivers who use that stretch should keep an eye out for closure notices as the project heads toward a targeted completion in late 2026, with some estimates stretching into early 2027.

Lewisville Joins Seven Other Cities for a 9/11 Walk of Remembrance
City leaders from Lewisville, Highland Village and Denton County will meet officials from Hickory Creek, Corinth, Lake Dallas, Shady Shores and Denton at the midway point of the Lewisville Lake pedestrian bridge on September 6, marking 25 years since the September 11 terrorist attacks with a sunset "virtual handoff" of American flags.
Residents are invited to join the walk from either end of the bridge. Organizers ask participants to bring an American, Texas or U.S. military branch flag and to keep the moment free of political materials, signs or banners, in keeping with the spirit of the tribute.

Volunteers and Homeowners Sought for "For the Love of Lewisville" Day of Service
The city is lining up its next For the Love of Lewisville day of service for October 24, and it needs both hands and homeowners. The event pairs volunteers with single-family homeowners who have limited financial means, are disabled or facing functional challenges, are senior citizens, or are veterans, matching them up for repairs and improvements they might not otherwise be able to tackle.
Volunteer tasks range from yard work and tree trimming to painting, window washing and park cleanup, and the day is open to individuals, families, groups and skilled professionals alike. Homeowners who want to be considered can apply online, though the city notes approval isn't guaranteed since projects depend on volunteer availability and skill.

Lewisville made Texas history on July 18, 1975, when Jerry and Debbie Davis welcomed the Lewisville Quintuplets, four girls and a boy. It was the first recorded quintuplet birth in the state, and the news drew attention to the growing Denton County town from well beyond its borders.
