Sneaky Pete's Closes After Nearly 40 Years on the Lake
Sneaky Pete's, the lakeside bar and grill that has anchored Eagle Point Marina for close to four decades, is closing for good on September 28. The city declined to renew its lease at the site, ending a run that made the spot a go-to for boaters, bikers and anyone chasing a burger with a lake view.
City officials confirmed a hotel and conference center are planned for the property. Owner Nick Mehmeti had pitched his own hotel resort concept that would have kept a Sneaky Pete's on site, but that proposal wasn't accepted. He says he plans to relocate the restaurant, with The Colony among the spots being considered, though nothing is finalized yet.
For regulars, it's the end of an era on Lewisville Lake. For everyone else, it's a nudge to get one more sunset visit in before the month is out.

Lewisville PD Opens Its Doors for a Public Open House
Lewisville Police Department is inviting the whole community out to the Tittle McFadden Public Safety Center this week for a free, come-and-go open house. It's part of an ongoing push by the department to build relationships with residents outside the usual 911-call context.
Visitors can meet officers, tour the newly built facility, get an up-close look at SWAT equipment, and catch live demonstrations from the drone team and a K9 unit. Department leaders will also be on hand to talk through current priorities and answer questions.
Two housekeeping notes: parking is free on site, and weapons or firearms aren't allowed past the lobby.

Labor Day Weekend Rolls Into Bill Weaver Arena
Labor Day weekend brings two straight nights of Western-themed fun to Bill Weaver Arena. Saturday kicks off with the Let's Get Western Bull Bash, featuring the Elite Pro Bull Riders Team Series along with inflatables for kids and food and drink concessions.
Sunday flips the script with Fiesta Charra, a free family event built around traditional Charreada culture: Ballet Folklorico, a synchronized horse skirmish called Escaramuza Charra, pony rides, lucha libre wrestlers, and a jalapeno eating contest for anyone brave enough to enter.
Parking at the arena is limited, so the city recommends parking in Old Town and catching the free shuttle, which runs 3 to 11 PM both nights.

LISD Rolls Out a New Virtual Learning Option
Lewisville ISD is giving families more flexibility this year with LISD Everywhere, a new program that lets students take some or all of their classes online. Incoming freshmen can now enroll in a fully virtual track that covers all eight required credits for the year, taught entirely by LISD-certified teachers.
Students in grades 10 through 12 have a lighter-touch option. They stay enrolled at their home campus, keep participating in sports and clubs, and can still take one to three virtual courses a semester through the district's existing Virtual Learning Academy.
All the coursework is asynchronous, so there's no set login time, just structured pacing and built-in support from teachers. The one hard requirement is reliable home internet.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
Lewisville's oldest standing building, now home to the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre, was built in 1885 on West Main Street in what's now Old Town. It's one of the last survivors from a stretch of Main Street that was rebuilt in brick after decades of fires took out the wood-frame storefronts that came before it.

Easing to 89.2% full as of Monday, August 31, the most recent reading from Water Data for Texas, down slightly from 89.5% the day before and continuing the same gradual late-summer slide we've been tracking for weeks. That puts the lake a little over 2.5 feet below full pool (522 ft), still well within the normal range for this time of year. No advisories are in effect, so boat ramps, swim areas and the Party Cove remain business as usual heading into the holiday weekend.
