Back to School Fair Is This Thursday. Here Is What You Need to Know Before You Go.
The LISD Back to School Fair takes place this Thursday, July 30, from 3 PM to 7 PM at Hedrick Middle School, 1526 Bellaire Boulevard in Lewisville. The fair hands out free backpacks packed with school supplies to LISD students who need assistance heading into the new school year.
If you already registered, you are set. Registration for the fair closed on July 12, so this is not a same day sign up event for new families. Families who missed the registration window can still reach out to their school counselor or LISD's Family Resource Center about other supply assistance options.
The fair still needs help running smoothly. Volunteers can sign up through the City of Lewisville's volunteer portal to help with set up, check in and clean up on Thursday.
Only Four Days Left to Turn In Your Library Reading Log
Lewisville Public Library's Destination Summer reading challenge wraps up this Saturday, August 1. The program let readers of every age pick a challenge, 25 books, 25 hours or 25 days, and track their progress all summer long.
If you have been keeping a reading log, now is the time to turn it in. Readers who complete their log by August 1 get to pick a free book and earn an entry into the library's prize drawings. Logs can be turned in at the Lewisville Public Library or through the library's online portal.

LISD's First Day Is 15 Days Away. Here Is What Is New.
Lewisville ISD students head back to class in 15 days, on Wednesday, August 12. This year brings new start and dismissal times across every campus level. Elementary schools now run 7:40 AM to 3:05 PM, middle schools run 8:15 AM to 3:40 PM, and high schools run 8:50 AM to 4:15 PM. Families used to last year's schedule should double check drop off and pickup plans against the new times.
Enrollment is open now through the district's Qmlativ system at lisd.net/enroll. Families who have not enrolled yet should not wait, since campus assignments and bus routes depend on enrollment being complete before the first day. School supply lists for every campus are posted at lisd.net/resources/families/school-supply-lists.

West Nile Activity Holds Steady in Denton County. Here Is How to Protect Your Family.
Denton County's West Nile virus season is still active heading into August. The county confirmed its first human case of the year on July 10, and health officials had logged 25 mosquito traps testing positive across the county as of mid July, including locations near Lewisville. The county performs ground fogging with insecticide near any trap that tests positive.
Lewisville sprayed near Rachel's Court in mid July after a positive trap result in that area. Mosquito season typically peaks through August, so officials are urging residents to keep taking precautions for the next several weeks.
The City of Lewisville is handing out free mosquito dunks, which treat standing water to kill mosquito larvae before they hatch, at City Hall. Residents can pick some up or ask questions by contacting Pedro Martinez at 972.219.3776 or [email protected].
