TECC-West's Culinary Program Earns National Accreditation and Runs a Student Restaurant on Thursdays

LISD website
Lewisville ISD students plan the menu, cook and wait tables at Café 3040.
The culinary arts program at Lewisville ISD's TECC-West earned accreditation from the American Culinary Federation on July 1, and the district announced it October 15. TECC-West is the second program in Texas accredited for both Secondary Culinary Arts and Secondary Baking and Pastry. The district also says Lewisville ISD was named a Career and Technical Education District of Distinction for the third year in a row, placing its programs in the top 6 percent statewide.
The public can see the training in action at Café 3040, a student-run restaurant that takes over the TECC-West multipurpose room once a week during the school year. Students pick the theme, build the menu and handle everything from the kitchen to table service. Department lead Chef Kenny Shier says the program teaches professionalism, accountability and workforce readiness. The district encourages families to skip the sack lunch and eat there, and menu updates are posted on the Café 3040 Facebook page.

Farmers Beat Hebron, and a UIL Hearing Thursday Could Shape the Flower Mound Game

Lewisville High stays undefeated in district play ahead of a big road test Friday.
Lewisville High School routed Hebron on Friday night, with the Lewisville Leader crediting Mathis and Brazzell for sparking a win that keeps the Farmers undefeated. It was the latest step in an unusual season, one in which the Farmers vacated their first three wins after their original starting quarterback was ruled ineligible and have since leaned on backup quarterback Aiden Evans.
The next test is at Flower Mound on Friday, October 23. According to Cross Timbers Gazette, the UIL state executive committee hears an appeal on Thursday, October 22, that will decide whether the original quarterback can return for that game. If he is ruled eligible, those vacated early wins could be reinstated.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
Lewisville Lake sits on top of a site people used about 12,000 years ago. Workers building Lewisville Dam in 1950 uncovered Aboriginal artifacts, and archeologists excavated the site from 1952 to 1957 before the reservoir covered it. They recorded 21 hearths along with animal bone fragments, and radiocarbon dating put the site at roughly 12,000 years old.

🌊 Lake Lewisville Check
Lewisville Lake is 82.6% full as of Sunday, October 18.
The water sits at about 518.21 feet, roughly 3.8 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool. That is down from 83.6% a week earlier and 84.9% a month earlier, so the lake is still easing slowly.
Boat ramps, swim areas and Party Cove still have water, though shallow launches get trickier as levels drop. Check city and Army Corps notices for any closures before you head out.
