Lewisville Summer Heat Guide — It Is Hitting 100 Degrees. Here Is How to Stay Safe.

July in Lewisville means one thing: serious heat. AccuWeather is forecasting daily highs between 95 and 102 degrees through the rest of the month, with overnight lows staying in the mid to upper 70s. That means there is no real cool-down between day and night, which is when heat illness becomes genuinely dangerous, especially for children, older adults, outdoor workers, and pets.
The most important thing you can do on extreme heat days is stay hydrated before you feel thirsty. By the time thirst kicks in, your body is already behind. Texas Parks and Wildlife recommends at least eight ounces of water every 20 minutes when active outside, even if you do not feel like you need it. Electrolyte drinks are useful for longer outdoor sessions but water is the foundation.
Know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat exhaustion includes heavy sweating, cold and clammy skin, a fast and weak pulse, nausea, and dizziness. If you or someone around you shows these signs, get indoors to air conditioning, lie down, and drink cool water. Heat stroke is a medical emergency: the body stops sweating, skin turns red and hot, the person may be confused or unconscious. Call 911 immediately and apply cool water to the skin while waiting for help to arrive.
A few practical Lewisville-specific tips for this week. Schedule any outdoor activity, exercise, or yard work before 9 AM or after 7 PM. Never leave a child or pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes with the windows cracked. Temperatures inside a parked car can reach 130 degrees or higher within minutes. If your home does not have reliable air conditioning or your power goes out, Denton County operates cooling centers during heat emergencies. Call 211 to find the nearest location.
Keep an eye on your neighbors, especially older adults who live alone. A wellness check during a heat wave can save a life. Texas heat is not something to push through. Take it seriously, stay cool, and look out for each other.

The Realm at Castle Hills Has a Lot Going On. Here Is Your Dining and Lifestyle Guide

If you have not visited The Realm at Castle Hills lately, it may be time to take another look. The 324-acre mixed-use development along State Highway 121 has been steadily building out its dining and retail lineup and is now home to a genuinely diverse collection of restaurants, shops, and services that would be worth a drive even if they were not already right here in Lewisville.
The dining roster covers a lot of ground. Saray Mediterranean Fusion brings Turkish, Lebanese, Greek, and Syrian flavors to the complex. Grimaldi's Pizzeria, the famous New York coal-fired brick-oven pizza brand, has its first Lewisville location here. El Patio Mex-Tex blends authentic Mexican cuisine with Texas barbecue. The Monk's offers Chinese and Indian flavors in a single kitchen. Mochinut serves Japanese mochi doughnuts alongside American doughnuts. Bahama Buck's has over 100 flavors of shaved ice and smoothies. Marble Slab Creamery and Great American Cookies share a 1,600-square-foot shop with ice cream, shakes, cakes, and cookies.
Beyond food, the complex includes a Castle Hills Animal Hospital for full-service pet care, Cachet Salons and Spa, Little India Lewisville with a full grocery and fine dining component, and an outdoor park at Crescent Park with a choreographed water feature that runs on warm evenings. The Realm also hosts free community events throughout the year including movie nights, car shows, and seasonal festivals on the park lawn.
The development is located at 4440 State Highway 121 in Lewisville, right along the Castle Hills corridor. Free parking is available throughout the complex and most of the dining and retail is walkable from the main parking areas. More information at therealmcastlehills.com.

The Visual Art League of Lewisville Is a Free Arts Gem in Old Town Most Residents Do Not Know About

Tucked inside the Lewisville Grand Theater at 100 N. Charles Street in Old Town, the Visual Art League of Lewisville has been quietly enriching the community since 1978. If you have never heard of it, you are not alone, and that is exactly why it deserves a spotlight in this newsletter.
The VAL is an all-volunteer nonprofit that supports local artists through gallery exhibitions, workshops, educational events, and community outreach. But the two things that should go on your regular calendar right now are completely free and open to anyone who shows up.
The first is Acoustic Friday Jams, held every Friday evening from 7 to 9 PM at the Grand. This weekly jam session and song circle is open to musicians of any level playing any acoustic instrument, and equally open to people who just want to sit and listen in a casual, community atmosphere. No cover charge, no reservation needed. Just show up.
The second is the monthly VAL Art Talk, held the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM, also at the Grand. Each month features a guest speaker, artist demonstration, or hands-on presentation on a visual arts topic. Past talks have covered fiber art, spiritual asemic drawing, and techniques for strengthening creative practice. These are genuinely interesting evenings and they are free and open to the public. The next one is this coming Tuesday, July 14.
Beyond those two events, the VAL runs four major gallery exhibitions per year at the Grand, has rotating displays in the theater lobby and north wing, and supports LISD schools through visual arts programs. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the arts. For more information visit visualartleague.org or stop by the Grand any Friday evening.
The World Cup Final Is This Sunday. Where to Watch and How Dallas Wrapped Up the Tournament

The biggest sporting event in the world wraps up this Sunday, July 19, when two remaining teams face off in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Kickoff is at 3 PM Eastern. For Lewisville residents who have been following along, this is the moment the entire tournament has been building toward.
Dallas had a remarkable run as a World Cup host city. AT&T Stadium in Arlington staged nine total matches throughout the tournament, more than any other venue in the competition. That included this past Tuesday's semifinal, making the DFW area one of the most active hubs in a tournament that spanned three countries and 16 cities. North Texas showed out for the sport in a big way.
To watch Sunday's final locally, most sports bars across Lewisville and the surrounding area will be showing the match live. Upper 90, The Londoner, Frankie's Downtown, and Backyard Dallas are among the DFW venues that have been running watch parties throughout the tournament. Check with your favorite local sports bar this week to confirm they are showing it and whether reservations are needed.
