Lewisville High Hosts Hebron on Friday Night With the District Lead on the Line

The Farmers are 3-0 in district play and have leaned on their backup quarterback during the run.
Lewisville High School plays Hebron on Friday, October 16, at 7 PM, with the Farmers sitting at 3-0 in district play and in first place, according to MaxPreps. The team has had an unusual season. Its original starting quarterback was ruled ineligible earlier this fall, and the Farmers had to vacate their first three wins. Since then they have beaten Marcus, Frisco Wakeland and Denton Guyer with backup quarterback Aiden Evans under center, most recently a win over Guyer on October 10 at Max Goldsmith Stadium.
The following week brings a bigger question. Lewisville is scheduled to visit Flower Mound on October 23, and Cross Timbers Gazette reports the Farmers' original quarterback could return for that game only if the UIL state executive committee rules him eligible at a hearing on Thursday, October 22. Flower Mound has had a hot start to the season and is a district opponent.

Highland Village Starts Sellmeyer Lane Overlay and Preps for Highland Shores Reconstruction

Drivers in Highland Village should expect work zones this fall.
Highland Village's 2026 asphalt overlay project is underway on Shade Tree, Rain Tree and Meadow Crest Drive, along with roads in Copperas Branch Park. A new overlay on Sellmeyer Lane between FM 407 and Victoria is set to begin this month, while the stretch from Victoria to Foggy Glen will be done in two phases once a future bond issuance is in place.
Reconstruction of Highland Shores Boulevard, from Briarhill Boulevard to Twin Coves, is set to begin this year. The city says it will be lengthy and involve traffic shifts, so residents should plan alternate routes and can sign up for updates at highlandvillage.org/staynotified.
The city's new fiscal year also brings a tax rate of $0.528541 per $100 of valuation, up from $0.500984, which the city says adds about $105.74 a year for the average taxpayer. Budget cuts include Concerts in the Park and Movies in the Park. Separately, sponsorships for the Salute Our Veterans lunch are due October 23. A $50 sponsorship covers two veterans' lunches, and details are at thehvba.com/veterans.
🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
Lewisville's oldest standing building has been a store, a church and now a stage. The city says the structure at 160 W. Main St. in Old Town was built in 1885 as Cobb's Dry Goods. It later served as a church, and after renovations between 2003 and 2006 it became home to the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre, where a cast iron plate from the original construction is still visible at the front.
Silver Has Beaten Gold Before. It's Doing It Again.
From 1974 to 1987, silver more than doubled gold's returns. After 2008, it beat gold five-fold in three years. Since March 2020, silver is up 402% against gold's 186%. Our research team's free playbook explains why, and how the team would position.
🌊 Lake Lewisville Check
Lewisville Lake is 83.3% full as of Thursday, October 15, the latest reading posted.
The water sits at about 518.38 feet, roughly 3.6 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool. That is down from 84.0% a week earlier and 85.5% a month earlier, so the lake is still easing slowly.
Boat ramps, swim areas and Party Cove still have water, though shallow launches get trickier as levels drop. Check city and Army Corps notices for any closures before you head out.
