The #1 Roth Conversion Mistake That Costs Retirees
Most people missed the first Roth conversion window. History is offering a rare second chance — but not a long one.
With today's tax rates extended, IRA Millionaires have a brief stretch of historically low brackets left. When it closes, the math changes: higher rates, bigger required distributions, and fewer conversion opportunities each year you wait.
Craig Wear, CFP®, has spent 15+ years helping more than 3,000 families with $1M+ in IRAs plan Roth conversions — helping them avoid a projected $10B+ in lifetime taxes. His new book, Roth Conversion Reset, is the step-by-step playbook:
Lock in today's low rates
Avoid RMD surprises at 73
Protect your spouse from survivor taxes
Keep more for your heirs

⚽ European Eagles Soccer Academy

Stuart Thomas founded European Eagles Soccer Academy with a clear mission: develop players who can actually compete at the highest levels, by blending European technical training with American athleticism. It's a non-profit built around a player-first philosophy, instead of running everyone through the same rigid syllabus, coaches build training around what each player specifically needs, working on everything from technique and speed to game awareness, decision-making, and plain old confidence on the ball.
Their bread and butter is skills training, offered in both one-on-one and group sessions. And there's something new on the horizon, the academy is forming developmental teams organized by age group, with the focus intentionally placed on skill-building over game play. It's a chance for young players to get serious, focused development time before they're thrown into competition.

Nine Local Businesses Get Their Moment at Thursday's Chamber Ribbon Cutting Extravaganza
The Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce is throwing open its doors Thursday evening for its Chamber Night Out Ribbon Cutting Extravaganza, a single event honoring nine local businesses at once instead of spacing out individual ceremonies through the month.
This round's honorees span a wide mix of local commerce, including Bright HR Solutions, Alicia Mathney's Mary Kay business, City Lifestyle, GoForth with Purpose, JenAssist, Metroplex Drone Services, The Good Seed Media, TwoMoons.Gifts and Vaerion Systems.
The format doubles as a networking mixer, giving chamber members and the public a chance to meet several new or growing local businesses in one stop rather than attending separate ribbon cuttings throughout the month.

TxDOT Lines Up a Run of Overnight I-35E Lane Closures Through the Weekend

Drivers on I-35E through Lewisville should plan for a stretch of overnight lane closures running Tuesday, Aug. 18 through Saturday, Aug. 22, as TxDOT crews set barriers, install signage and prepare for striping work along the corridor.
Northbound lanes near the Corporate Drive exit and the SH-121 Business interchange closed overnight Tuesday and Wednesday, and southbound lanes near SH-121 Business, Park Street, County Ridge Road and Kia Drive close overnight Thursday and Friday. Each closure runs from around 9 or 10 PM until 5 AM the following morning.
A separate daytime closure follows Monday, Aug. 31, when the left lane of the southbound I-35 service road and the SH-121 Business flyover shuts down from about 9 AM to 3:30 PM for striping between Lakeland Plaza and SH-121 Business. TxDOT is asking drivers to build in extra travel time and avoid the area overnight if possible.

Denton County's Boys & Girls Club Holds Its Grand Opening Celebration Friday

After breaking ground this spring in a converted Lewisville fire station, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County's new Lewisville branch celebrates its official Grand Opening Friday morning, a standalone Boys & Girls Club facility in Denton County.
The 8,000-square-foot renovation at 195 W. Corporate Drive sits on a former fire station the city donated for the project, backed by a $1 million lead gift from the RAO Foundation and $3 million in Denton County funding. The club began welcoming members for programming earlier this week, and Friday's ceremony marks the public celebration of that milestone.
Once fully up and running, organizers expect the club to serve thousands of local kids and teens each year with mentorship, meals and after-school programming.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
Lewisville's first bank heist predates the Barrow Gang by a couple of decades. In 1909, robbers dynamited the safe at First National Bank of Lewisville for about $6,500 and made their getaway on a railroad handcar. Two of them were caught shortly after.

🌊 Lake Lewisville Check
Easing to 92.5% full as of Tuesday, August 18, the latest reading from Water Data for Texas, down from the 93.4% mark that had held steady since August 14. That keeps Lewisville Lake a bit under full pool (522 ft) but well within the normal range for late summer. No advisories are in effect, so boat ramps, swim areas and the Party Cove remain business as usual.
