Lewisville ISD Moves Toward Ground Leases on Three Surplus Elementary Campuses

Trustees approved a non-binding letter of intent covering BB Owen, Creekside and Polser elementary campuses.

Lewisville ISD trustees voted 7-0 at their October 13 meeting to approve a non-binding letter of intent for one or more ground leases at three campuses the district has declared surplus: BB Owen Elementary, Creekside Elementary and Polser Elementary. The board also authorized the superintendent to sign the letter.

A letter of intent is a first step, not a deal. It does not commit the district to a lease, and the lease terms and the prospective tenant have yet to be made public. Contact Lewisville ISD for details on the process.

In other board news, Lewisville ISD announced October 15 that trustees approved the district's legislative priorities for the 90th Texas Legislative Session. The list calls for stable state accountability benchmarks, updated state minimum pay for teachers, nurses and counselors, higher special education funding, better bus mileage reimbursement, and safety funding and calendar flexibility when schools serve as polling sites.
