If you've walked down Main Street in Old Town Lewisville lately, you've probably noticed the barbershop with the 50s-diner soul. Thrive Recreation Center Reopens After Its Annual Maintenance Week
Thrive, Lewisville's multigenerational recreation center at Memorial Park, reopens Monday at 5 AM after closing for its yearly maintenance week, giving crews time to service the pools, equipment and mechanical systems before members return.
While Thrive was closed, the city offered complimentary outdoor fitness classes at Wayne Ferguson Plaza in Old Town, including yoga, Pilates, tai chi and bodyweight strength training, so members could keep up their routines during the shutdown.
With the maintenance work wrapped up, Thrive's pools, gym, indoor track, fitness areas and indoor playground are back on their normal schedule starting today.

Lewisville ISD Board Meets Thursday to Adopt the 2026-27 Budget and Tax Rate
Lewisville ISD's Board of Trustees holds a special meeting Thursday to formally adopt the district's budget and property tax rate for the 2026-27 school year, the final step in a process that began months ago as the district planned for its longer school day and its new LISD Everywhere virtual learning option.
The meeting is open to the public, and residents can review the proposed budget and tax rate documents on the district's website ahead of time.
Board approval sets how much LISD will collect from property owners for the year and locks in funding for classrooms, staffing and campus operations through the rest of the school year.

A Reminder: Daytime Watering Restrictions Stay in Effect Through September
With about five weeks of irrigation season left, the City of Lewisville is reminding residents that Stage 1 daytime watering restrictions remain in effect as part of the city's Emergency Water Management Plan, which runs each year from May 1 through the end of September.
Automated and manual sprinklers can't run between 10 AM and 6 PM. Even-numbered addresses may water lawns on Tuesdays and Saturdays, odd-numbered addresses on Wednesdays and Sundays, and commercial, multifamily and HOA properties on Mondays and Thursdays. Hand-watering and soaker hoses aren't restricted at any time.
Residents can report suspected violations through the OurLewisvilleTX app or by calling 972-219-3510, and the city offers rebates for water-efficient irrigation upgrades through its Water Conservation program.

Western Days Food Vendor Applications Close Aug. 30
Food trucks and vendors hoping to set up at this year's Lewisville Western Days have until Sunday, August 30, to get their applications in, the city says, as it finalizes plans for the two-day festival returning to Old Town Sept. 25-26.
This year's lineup already has its headliners locked in, with Eli Young Band playing Friday and Randy Rogers Band playing Saturday, and admission free before 6 PM both days.
Vendors with questions about space, fees or requirements can reach out directly to the city's special events team.

Lewisville Lake wasn't always called that. The Army Corps of Engineers didn't officially rename the Garza-Little Elm Reservoir to Lewisville Lake until 1971, even though Congress had approved the name Lewisville Dam back in 1955. Signs proclaiming "Lewisville Lake" didn't actually go up until 1976.

No advisories are in effect, so boat ramps, swim areas and the Party Cove remain business as usual.
