Lewisville Unveils Plans for a New Castle Hills Corridor Trail
City of Lewisville
Lewisville's Parks and Recreation Department wants residents to help shape a new trail planned through Castle Hills, and it's holding two public meetings next week to gather feedback before the design is finalized. The city hired the firm McAdams to handle surveying and landscape architecture for a schematic design, built around guidelines in the city's Healthy Infrastructure Plan and the 2024 bond package.
The first phase would put a 12-foot-wide trail along the southernmost stretch of the corridor, running from Windhaven Parkway east to a utility easement and then north to the sports fields, with wayfinding signage, a trailhead and shaded rest spots along the way. The long-term goal is to connect Castle Hills into the trail networks already built out in neighboring Carrollton, Plano and The Colony, plus Lewisville's own Green Centerpiece.
City staff say resident input is central to the project, and they're hoping people who live in and around Castle Hills will show up to weigh in on where the trail goes and how it's built.

Lewisville-Flower Mound Teen Court Launches "Teen Talks" Series
Lewisville-Flower Mound Teen Court is rolling out a new speaker series called Teen Talks this fall, giving local teenagers a straightforward look at real-life issues and how they connect to the law. Each session pairs a short presentation and video with a conversation led by a subject-matter expert.
The topics run through the school year, from recognizing abuse to distracted driving, drunk driving and knowing when and how to call 911. Sessions alternate between the Lewisville and Flower Mound municipal courts, and any teen who attends can earn two hours of community service credit, with extra credit available for Teen Court or Diversion participants who bring a parent, guardian, sibling or friend along.
All teens are welcome, not just those already connected to Teen Court, and organizers say the goal is simply to give young people useful, practical information before they need it.

Former Lewisville Poet Laureate Opens Solo Art Show at The Grand
Yoonsoo Nam, who served as the City of Lewisville's Poet Laureate from 2022 to 2024, has a new solo exhibition up at Lewisville Grand Theater. "Tears to Glory" fills the Education Hallway Gallery with paintings Nam describes as a personal journey through faith, endurance and renewal, with each piece built around the idea of turning hardship into meaning.
Nam has shown work in 20 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows both in the U.S. and abroad, and also collaborates with gallerists and interior designers outside the traditional gallery setting. The show runs for about a month, giving residents plenty of chances to stop in during regular gallery hours.
The exhibit is free to view. The Grand notes there's ongoing road construction near the Main Street interchange with I-35E, so visitors should plan for possible delays getting to the venue.

Lewisville Grand Puts Out Call for Artists for "Eye Candy!" Exhibit
Lewisville Grand Theater is looking for DFW-area artists to contribute to its next themed show, "Eye Candy!," built around vibrant color, playful imagery and nostalgia. Organizers describe it as an open invitation for artists to explore what "sweet" means to them, whether that's candy, childhood memories or bold, unexpected color.
The call is open to fine art and fine craft artists living anywhere in the DFW area, not just Lewisville, and each artist can submit up to three pieces for consideration. Two-dimensional work must be framed and wire-ready for hanging, while three-dimensional pieces need to be stable enough to stand alone or sit securely on a base.
Accepted artists will be notified by mid-September, with the show going up in the gallery's Education Hallway in early October.
