LISD Is Giving Away 4,000 Free Backpacks and School Supplies on July 30. Here Is How to Sign Up.

One of the best things LISD does every summer is one of the least talked about. On Thursday July 30, Lewisville ISD's annual Back to School Fair takes place at Hedrick Middle School, 1526 Bellaire Boulevard in Lewisville, and it is a genuinely meaningful event for thousands of families across the district.

The centerpiece of the fair is 4,000 free backpacks packed with school supplies that go directly to LISD students who need assistance heading into the school year. The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation coordinates the event each year in partnership with the city, corporate sponsors, and community volunteers. Beyond the backpacks, the fair also connects families with community resources and services that help students and parents navigate the new school year.

If you have a student in LISD who could benefit from this support, registration is required. Families can sign up through the LISD website at lisd.net/backtoschoolfair. The registration process is simple and straightforward. If you know a family who could use this resource, pass this along because word of mouth is how most families find out about it each year.

The fair also needs volunteers for setup, the event itself, and cleanup. LISD School Supply Lists Are Live Now. August 12 Is 22 Days Away.

With three weeks until the first day of school, LISD has posted campus-specific school supply lists for the 2026-27 year and they are ready to download right now. If you shop early you avoid the August rush at Target and Walmart when shelves start running thin on the specific items teachers request.

Supply lists are organized by campus and available HERE. The page covers elementary, middle, and high school campuses. Not every campus has posted yet so if yours is not there, check back in the next few days as lists are still being added as teachers finalize their requests for the new year.

A few things also worth knowing for the 2026-27 school year that affect every LISD family. School hours changed this fall: elementary runs 7:40 AM to 3:05 PM, middle school runs 8:15 AM to 3:40 PM, and high school runs 8:50 AM to 4:15 PM. These are different from last year so adjust your pickup, dropoff, and childcare schedules now. Students who qualify for reduced price meals under the previous pricing structure now receive all breakfast and lunch meals at no cost for the 2026-27 school year.

New student enrollment is still open at lisd.net/enroll using the new Qmlativ system. If you have a student who has not yet been enrolled for the coming year, do not wait. Staff capacity to process applications decreases significantly in the final two weeks before school starts.

Tonight Is the Last Sounds of Lewisville Concert of the Season. Here Is What to Know.

The 2026 Sounds of Lewisville concert season wraps up tonight at Wayne Ferguson Plaza in Old Town. Since 1991, this free Tuesday night concert series has been one of the most consistent and beloved summer traditions in the city, and tonight is the last show of the year.

Doors open at 7:00 PM with the opening act running from 7:00 to 7:45 PM, followed by the headliner from 8:00 to 9:30 PM. The show is free and family friendly. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Well-behaved pets on a leash are welcome. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site. Free parking is available along Main and Charles streets and at Lewisville City Hall.

This season ran ten shows across May, June, and July including tribute acts for Taylor Swift, U2, Earth Wind and Fire, and the Beach Boys, plus a bonus Juneteenth concert in June. LISD Is Hiring. District Job Fair Is This Morning at TECC-W.

If you or someone you know is looking for work in education, Lewisville ISD is holding a District Events Job Fair this morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the TECC-W campus in Lewisville. The fair is open to candidates interested in teaching and staff positions across the district heading into the 2026-27 school year.

With August 12 now 22 days away, LISD is in its final push to fill open positions before the first day of school. The district recently approved $321,000 in targeted salary increases for hard-to-fill roles including bilingual teachers, special education specialists, and counselors, which means compensation for those roles is more competitive than it has been in recent years.
