City Hosts Final Open House Tonight on Lake Park's Future
Lewisville's Parks and Recreation Department wraps up its two-part Lake Park Improvement Project open house tonight, giving residents a final chance to weigh in before the city moves forward with design plans. Wednesday's session was held at Thrive; tonight's meeting shifts to the lower level of City Hall.
PARD staff are looking for direct input on what residents want to see at Lake Park, from trail upgrades to new amenities. Both sessions follow the same format, a drop-in open house period followed by a public meeting where staff walk through concepts and take questions.
If you have thoughts on how Lake Park should evolve, tonight's meeting is the last scheduled chance to share them in person.

1,000+ Pets Need Homes at This Weekend's Mega Adoption Event

Lewisville Animal Services is teaming up with the Humane Society of North Texas and more than 35 other area shelters for a two-day Mega Adoption Event this weekend, aiming to find homes for over 1,000 dogs, cats and other small pets.
The event runs Saturday and Sunday at the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall in Fort Worth. Pets can't be reserved ahead of time, so organizers say early arrival gives the best shot at meeting a favorite before someone else does. The event covers dogs, cats and other small pets, though horses and livestock aren't part of it.
Early birds willing to pay a bit more can skip the crowds. A $50 Fast Pass gets the first 150 registered attendees into the hall an hour before doors open to the public on Saturday.

Western Days Is Up for a Best of Dallas Award, and Lewisville Wants Your Vote
Lewisville's Western Days festival landed a nomination for Best Music Festival in the Dallas Observer's 2026 Best of Dallas Readers' Choice Awards, and the city is asking residents to help it win.
Voting is open now through Sept. 9 at dallasobserver.com, where Western Days is competing against the Dallas Reggae Fest, Jambaloo Live, the TBAAL Riverfront Jazz Festival and Lights All Night. Each email address can cast one vote per day, so repeat voters can help move the needle over the coming weeks.
Winners will be announced in the Best of Dallas print issue and online on Sept. 24, about a week before Western Days kicks off Sept. 25-26 in Old Town Lewisville with headliners Eli Young Band and Randy Rogers Band.

Poe-Themed Nevermore Tavern Sets Its Sights on an October Opening
Construction is underway on Nevermore Tavern, the Edgar Allan Poe-inspired bar coming to 170 W. Main Street in Old Town Lewisville, with the team now targeting an October opening.
The literary-themed spot is taking over a remodeled 3,500-square-foot space with plans for themed cocktails, weekly trivia, live music and a lending library stocked with rare books. Renovation work began July 1 and is expected to wrap around Oct. 1, putting the tavern on track to open sometime that month.
Old Town has been adding new nightlife options steadily this year, and a raven-and-rare-books concept like Nevermore is shaping up to be one of the more distinctive additions. We'll share a firm opening date as soon as one is announced.

Holding steady at 94.5% full, matching the same reading reported in yesterday's issue, according to the latest Water Data for Texas figures. That keeps Lewisville Lake just under full pool (522 ft) but comfortably within the normal range for mid-August. No advisories are in effect, so boat ramps, swim areas and the Party Cove remain business as usual.
