I Almost Threw Out My Keurig. It Wasn't Broken.
Every cup from my Keurig started tasting weak, flat, stale — so I unplugged it and stuck it in a closet. Then I learned the dirty secret of grocery store K-Cups: by the time a pod reaches your kitchen, it's usually spent months going from factory to warehouse to truck to shelf. The flavor oils are long gone. Some brands even over-roast to hide it.
The fix wasn't a new machine. It was fresh pods from Angelino's, a family-owned L.A. roastery that roasts, packs, and ships within 3–5 days — straight to your door, from 39¢ a cup. Over 1,000,000 happy customers. 50+ flavors, no subscription required, and 15% off your first order, applied automatically at checkout.

Little Monsters on Main Turns Old Town Into a Halloween Block Party on October 24

Trick-or-treating, haunted hayrides and a movie under the stars all land on one Saturday night downtown.
The City of Lewisville's annual Little Monsters on Main runs from 6 to 9:30 PM on Saturday, October 24, around Old Town and Wayne Ferguson Plaza. Trick-or-treating at participating Main Street businesses runs from 6 to 8 PM, with inflatable attractions for ages 3 and up during the same window and live music from 6 to 7:30 PM.
Haunted hayrides leave from City Hall from 6:30 to 9:30 PM, and a movie in the Plaza starts at 8 PM. The first 500 trick-or-treaters to stop by the Info Tent get a free Little Monsters on Main bag, and food vendors will be on site, or you can dine in or carry out from an Old Town restaurant. Main Street closes for the event and reopens after the inflatables come down, so check the city's Wayne Ferguson Plaza parking page before you head in. The city's page did not list a 2026 change to the format.

Nevermore Tavern, Old Town's Poe-Themed Bar, Still Has No Opening Date

The literary bar planned for West Main Street keeps its doors closed for now, just as Halloween season gets going.
Nevermore Tavern is being built at 170 W. Main St., Suite 101, in Old Town Lewisville. WhatNow Dallas reported in May that the remodeled 3,500 square foot space would be a bar for literature and horror fans, with local art, books for sale and a lending library, plus readings, trivia, book signings, Poe-themed bingo, live music, drink tastings and book clubs.
State licensing filings cited in that report pointed to construction wrapping up around October 1, though the writer treated those dates as estimates. The tavern's own website still shows a "coming soon" banner and says to watch for the announcement of its opening date in November 2026. That wording does not make clear whether November is when the date will be announced or when the doors will open, and the site lists no hours or grand opening event. We will pass along a firm date the moment one is published.

Police and Fire Teams Meet in a Charity Softball Tournament Saturday

Railroad Park hosts the Battle of the Badges all day Saturday, October 10, and watching is free.
The tournament pits police and fire department teams from around North Texas against each other, and the city's listing for last year's event described it as an invitational with family activities such as crafts and face painting. Hot dogs and other refreshments were sold separately.
Last year's listing said proceeds supported community projects run by the Lewisville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and that the teams also pick charities to receive donations. The 2026 listing we found did not spell out who benefits this time, so ask on site if you want to know where your concession dollars go.

Texas Weavers Fill The Grand's Gallery, With Live Demos on Saturdays

"The Wild Wild Weft" is free to see in Old Town, and the artists show how it is done on Saturday afternoons.
The exhibition of work by Texas weavers is on view in the Lewisville Grand Theater gallery, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and admission is free. Weavers demonstrate their craft on Saturdays in October from 2 to 4 PM, which makes this weekend a good time to catch one.
One note on dates: a local events listing says the show runs through November 7, while the Old Town Lewisville calendar shows only October 13 to 17 on its entry. Check with The Grand at 972-219-8446 if you plan a trip near the end of the run.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
One lake visitor learned the hard way that Lake Dallas ice has limits. When the lake froze over in 1930, with ice about three inches thick near the dam, a visitor drove a Studebaker out onto it. The ice broke, and the car sank to the bottom of the lake.

🌊 Lake Lewisville Check
Lewisville Lake sits at 84.2% full, the latest reading posted, dated Wednesday, October 7.
The water is at about 518.56 feet, roughly 3.4 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool. No newer reading had been posted when we checked, so this is the same figure as yesterday's issue. It is up from 82.1% on September 30, so the lake is holding steady after the recent rain.
Boat ramps, swim areas and Party Cove still have water, though shallow launches get trickier when levels are lower. Check city and Army Corps notices for any closures before you head out.
