Lewisville Firefighters Save Family Dog From Overnight House Fire

Lewisville Fire Department
Lewisville firefighters pulled off a dramatic rescue early Friday morning, saving a family's dog from a two-alarm house fire in the 800 block of Orchard Drive.
Crews responded to the blaze around 3 AM and were already working to knock down the flames when the resident told firefighters her dog was still trapped inside. Members of the truck crew went into the burning home, located the dog and carried her outside to safety.
Once clear of the structure, firefighter-paramedics performed CPR and used a specialized pet oxygen mask to resuscitate the dog, who had stopped breathing. Lewisville Animal Services then transported her to a local emergency veterinary clinic, where she continues to recover.
Fire officials credited the successful rescue to continuous training and strategic apparatus placement, and thanked residents for trusting the department to respond quickly in an emergency.

Lewisville's Water Just Won Best Tasting in Texas, Again

Upper Trinity Regional Water District's Thomas E. Taylor Water Treatment Plant, which supplies much of Lewisville's drinking water, has been named the Best Tasting Surface Water in the region by the Texas Water Utilities Association for the second year in a row.
Entries in the annual competition are judged on clarity, aroma and taste, and the regional win advances Upper Trinity to compete for the statewide title. The plant treats water drawn from Lake Lewisville and Ray Roberts Lake before it reaches taps across the district's member cities, including Lewisville.
Back to back regional wins add to a run of recognition for the utility, which has picked up several other operations and water quality honors from state regulators this year.

A Massive Indoor Playground Is Coming to Lakepointe Towne Crossing This Fall

Families looking for an escape from the Texas heat will have a new option this fall. Lava Island, a large indoor themed playground concept, is opening its second Texas location at 715 Hebron Parkway, taking over the former Joann space at Lakepointe Towne Crossing.
The Lewisville location is expected to include party rooms, a full kitchen, an elevated deck for trampolines and a multi level indoor playground built for kids and parents to climb and play together. Construction got underway earlier this year and is expected to wrap by the end of October, with an opening targeted for fall.
It adds another indoor, air conditioned option to Lewisville's growing list of family entertainment spots, and one more reason to look forward to cooler months ahead.

Two Days Until LISD's First Day: What Families Still Need to Do

Lewisville ISD students head back to class Wednesday, August 12, and with two days to go, a few items are still worth checking off the list.
Back to school forms, which confirm emergency contacts, medical information and other yearly details, are due in Skyward Family Access before the first bell. The district also opened applications this month for free and reduced price school meals for the 2026-27 year, available through the Child Nutrition Department or online, and families can apply at any point in the year if their situation changes.
Bell times shift slightly from last year: elementary campuses start at 7:40 AM, middle schools at 8:15 AM and high schools at 8:50 AM. Campus specific school supply lists remain posted at lisd.net/resources/families/school-supply-lists, and families still adjusting to the district's new Skyward Qmlativ system can find step by step guides through the LISD Knowledge Hub.

🌊 Lake Lewisville Check
Holding steady at 95.3% full as of Saturday, August 8, the latest reading from Water Data for Texas, essentially flat from 95.8% recorded two days earlier. That keeps Lewisville Lake a bit under full pool (522 ft) but well within the normal range for early August. No advisories are in effect, so boat ramps, swim areas and the Party Cove remain business as usual heading into the week.
