Rachmaninoff Comes to The Grand on Friday Night

The Lewisville Lake Symphony's Symphony Series stops at the Lewisville Grand Theater with a piano showpiece and a Haydn favorite.
The program pairs Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Haydn's "Clock" Symphony. The soloist is Steven Dong, the Grand Prize winner of the 2026 International Competition for Piano, so Friday's concert doubles as a chance to hear a fresh competition champion without leaving Old Town.
Tickets are sold through tix.com, and the symphony's website mentions series discounts and group rates. A single-ticket price was not listed, so check the site before you go.

Flower Mound and Marcus Play for a Food Drive Belt That Helps a Lewisville Charity

The football rivalry known as the Mound Showdown comes with a side contest to see which fan base can bring the most food.
The winning fans take home the Mound Showdown Food Drive Championship Belt, but the real prize is on the pantry shelves. Everything collected goes to Christian Community Action, a Lewisville-based nonprofit that helps local families in need. Two box trucks will sit on either side of the stands to take donations at the game.
Canned goods lead the list, and the drive also accepts cereal, canned meats and boxed foods. If you cannot make the game, Christian Community Action has a website and wish list for online giving. The Cross Timbers Gazette said only that the game is on Friday. Kickoff time and venue were not published, so check the school athletics pages before you head out.

The same calendar notes that another event that night, Workshop Wednesdays with Our Productions Theatre Co., is moving to the Lewisville Municipal Annex because of street closures, so plan on detours around the heart of Old Town while the parade is underway.
Route details, lineup times and the homecoming game date were not published on the calendar listing, so check the school or district pages for those.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
Lewisville's first stoplight needed a human to run it. The city's first traffic signal went up in 1942 at Main Street and Federal Highway 77 (Mill Street), and an employee of Huffines Motor Company operated it by hand between 8 AM and 8 PM.

🌊 Lake Lewisville Check
Lewisville Lake sits at 84.2% full, the latest reading posted, dated Wednesday, October 7.
The water is at about 518.56 feet, roughly 3.4 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool. That is level with the readings from Monday and Tuesday and up from 82.1% a week earlier, so the lake is holding steady after last week's rain. It is still well below the 95.0% recorded a year ago.
Boat ramps, swim areas and Party Cove still have water, though shallow launches get trickier when levels are lower. Check city and Army Corps notices for any closures before you head out.
