No advisories are in effect, so boat ramps, swim areas and the Party Cove remain business as usual heading into the weekend.

One Week Until Lewisville ISD's First Day, With a New Skyward System Now Live
Lewisville ISD students head back to class in exactly one week, with the 2026-27 school year kicking off Wednesday, August 12. Bell times shift slightly from last year: elementary campuses start at 7:40 AM, middle schools at 8:15 AM and high schools at 8:50 AM, so parents will want to double check the schedule against their specific campus.
Families also have a new system to navigate this year. LISD upgraded from Skyward SMS to Skyward Qmlativ over the summer, with family and student access to the new platform live since August 3. Back-to-school forms, which confirm emergency contacts, medical information and other yearly updates, are open now in Skyward Family Access and need to be completed before the first day.
New students can start enrollment online at LISD.net/enroll, and campus-specific school supply lists are posted at lisd.net/resources/families/school-supply-lists. Families still getting used to the new Skyward system can find step-by-step guides through the district's Knowledge Hub.

Where Things Actually Stand With The Vista Mall Redevelopment
The Vista, the long stalled mall property at Interstate 35E and SH 121, remains one of the City Council's top redevelopment priorities, but more than three years after the city first struck a planning agreement with developers, no construction has begun on the site.
Voters approved a $32 million bond in May 2024 to help fund streets, utilities, drainage and other infrastructure work around the property, passing with 77 percent support. As of early 2026, though, those bond funds had not yet been put to use through construction contracts, and the city and the property owner, 1000 South Vermont LLC, still had no signed development agreement in place.
The vision the city has discussed publicly calls for a mixed-use complex with new housing, retail, dining and entertainment space built around the existing Cinemark, Dillard's Clearance and Zion Market anchors. For now, the city says its role is continuing to facilitate discussions between the property owners and interested developers, with a signed development agreement listed as the next concrete step.

Volunteers Needed This Saturday to Clean Up the Elm Fork Trinity River
LLELA is looking for a few extra hands this weekend for its Great Big River Care Clean Up, a volunteer effort to clear trash and debris from the Elm Fork Trinity River shoreline.
Volunteers will meet at the Blackjack Trail parking area before carpooling down to the riverbank, so plan to arrive a few minutes early. Organizers recommend closed-toe shoes, work gloves if you have them, and plenty of water, since it is still peak summer heat.
The cleanup is part of LLELA's ongoing volunteer program, which relies on community members to help maintain trails, waterways and habitat across the preserve throughout the year.

Novels at Night Returns to Lewisville Public Library Monday
Adult readers have a standing date at the library this month. Novels at Night, the library's monthly evening book club, meets Monday in the Crawford Meeting Room to discuss this month's pick, "The Husbands" by Holly Gramazio.
The club meets the second Monday of every month and is aimed at readers of popular fiction and nonfiction, from bestsellers to award winners. No registration is required, and a limited number of copies of the featured title are available at the Adult Services Desk, or through the library's online catalog as a print or ebook loan.
