42 Businesses Got Cleared to Open in Lewisville Last Month. Here Are the Ones You Will Notice.
The city issued 42 certificates of occupancy in August, which is the last box a business has to check before it can legally open its doors. Lewisville publishes the whole list on a public map, and August was a busy month across food, retail, services and one very large corporate name.
The biggest arrival is SiriusXM, which got cleared on August 28 for 38,317 square feet of office at 350 Highland Dr, Suite 100. That is easily the largest office sign-off of the month and a notable name to land in Lewisville. Two other big footprints went through as well: 24 Hour Flood Pros took 49,931 square feet at 601 Tittle Dr, and logistics firm Interstate X took 12,000 square feet at 1826 Lakeway Dr.
Restaurants had a strong month. The Grind Burger Bar was cleared August 25 for 3,000 square feet at 2500 King Arthur Blvd. Butters Cafe took 2,400 square feet at 850 W Valley Ridge Blvd. Hashtag India went in at 4440 SH 121 with 5,000 square feet, and Movie Pizza Company took the largest restaurant space of the month, 7,083 square feet at 359 Lake Park Rd.
Two Korean spots, Dalgoom and Doldol Sweets, were both cleared inside The Vista at 2401 S I-35E. Rounding out the food list: Mi Sabor at 101 E Southwest Pkwy, Phat Bae at 771 W FM 3040, and Castle Donuts at 615 FM 2281.
Old Town picked up a few too. Ebb and Flow Tattoos was cleared for 140 W Main St, Holistic Beauty & Meditation Center for 622 S Mill St, and AMP Liquidators Plus for 821 S Mill St. Christ Freedom Church of Lewisville also got the nod for 385 W Main St.
On the everyday-errands side, a Take 5 Oil Change was cleared at 1402 W Main St, Mr. Cuts Barbershop at 781 Lakeside Cir, the Lewisville Scout Shop at 1305 S SH 121 Bus, Work Wear Safety at 1288 W Main St, and Depil Brazil Waxing at 4740 SH 121. Two institutional additions are worth flagging as well: a Children's Lighthouse day care at 2200 S Valley Pkwy and a Boys & Girls Clubs location at 195 W Corporate Dr.
One caveat worth keeping in mind. A certificate of occupancy means the space is cleared for use, not that the doors are open today. Some of these were already operating within days, others are still fitting out. The Summer Watering Rules Run Through September 30, and Your Day Depends on Your Address
Lewisville's daytime outdoor watering restrictions, in place since May 1 under the city's Emergency Water Management Plan, stay in effect through the end of September. That leaves a little under four weeks of the schedule most yards have been on all summer.
The core rule is about timing. Sprinklers, automated or manual, are not allowed between 10 AM and 6 PM. Hand watering with a hose and soaker hoses are not restricted at any hour, because they lose far less to evaporation and overspray than a sprinkler head running across hot pavement at noon.
Then there is the day-of-week piece, which is where people usually slip. Under the Stage 1 rules, even-numbered addresses water Tuesdays and Saturdays. Odd-numbered addresses get Wednesdays and Sundays. Commercial, multifamily and HOA properties are assigned Mondays and Thursdays.
The timing lines up with what the lake is doing. Lewisville Lake has slid from 96.8 percent full a month ago to 88.7 percent on the latest daily reading, the normal late-summer drawdown, and the restrictions exist to keep peak demand off the municipal system while that happens.

That same number handles questions about the city's rebate program for water-efficient irrigation equipment. Before the season closes out, it is worth pulling up your controller settings, since a schedule programmed back in May is often still running a May schedule.

A Juried Show Drawing Artists From Across Texas Is Hanging at The Grand, and It Is Free
The Visual Art League of Lewisville's "Fresh Ideas 2026" is on display at Lewisville Grand Theater through Saturday, September 26, and it costs nothing to walk in.
Fresh Ideas is VAL's annual juried exhibit, which means the work on the walls got there by passing a jury rather than by signing up. It pulls entries from around Texas along with regional artists, and the media on display runs the full range rather than sticking to one lane.
VAL is one of ten local groups that receive funding from the city through a grant program built to support cultural and fine arts work in Lewisville. The group has an opening reception and awards ceremony scheduled for September 22, 7 to 9 PM, in the art gallery.
The gallery sits inside The Grand at 100 N. Charles Street, with free public parking along Main and Church streets or at City Hall across Church. One heads-up worth taking seriously: there is heavy road construction at the Main Street interchange with I-35E, so build in extra time.

The Grand Wants Candy-Colored Art From DFW Artists, and the Deadline Is a Week From Today
Lewisville Grand Theater is taking submissions for "Eye Candy!", an exhibit built around bright color, nostalgia and visual indulgence, and the deadline is 11:59 PM on Friday, September 11. The theme is candy in the broad sense: treats, childhood memories, bold color and the unexpected.
The call is open to any fine art or fine craft artist living in the DFW area. Living in Lewisville is not required, and you do not need to belong to an art group. Artists can submit up to three pieces in any medium, with one exception, AI-generated work will not be considered.
The practical requirements matter here. Two-dimensional work has to be framed with wire on the back, no sawtooth hangers, though gallery-wrapped canvases at least three quarters of an inch deep can skip the frame. Three-dimensional pieces need to stand on their own or attach to a stable base, and a limited number of pedestals are available if you ask in the comments on the form. The gallery is an open hallway, so installation work will not fit. Anything shown at The Grand in the last two years is out, and you have to drop off and pick up in person.
Selected artists hear back by email on Friday, September 18. Staff install the show September 30 through October 2, and it runs October 3 through November 7 in the Education Hallway Gallery. Work can be for sale but does not have to be, and artists handle their own sales, with a 10 percent commission going back to the arts center afterward.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
When crews broke ground on Lewisville Dam in 1950, they dug up something nobody was looking for: ancient hearths and fragments of animal bone buried in the soil. Radiocarbon dating later placed the material at roughly 12,000 years old.
That put the site in the same conversation as the Clovis find in New Mexico, one of the benchmarks for early human presence in North America. The dam itself was finished in 1955 and went on to create the lake we know, but the excavation that made it possible also turned out to be one of the more significant Ice Age discoveries in North Texas.

Lewisville Lake is 88.7% full on the most recent daily reading published by Water Data for Texas, dated Wednesday, September 2. Mean water level sits near 519.6 feet, roughly 2.4 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool.
The late-summer slide is steady rather than sharp: 88.9% the day before, 90.3% a week earlier and 96.8% a month ago. This time last year the lake was sitting at 93.8%, so the level is running below where it was in September 2025.
No advisories are in effect. Boat ramps, swim areas and Party Cove are all operating normally. The shoreline keeps pulling back a little each week, so check your depth before beaching a boat or wading somewhere that felt fine in June.
