Land Care Garden Center Is Now Open in Flower Mound Under New Owners

A longtime Flower Mound garden center has a new chapter, and it is open for business.

Steve and Karen Cammack now run Land Care Garden Center at 1616 Arrowhead Drive, the spot that operated as Schmitz Garden Center for more than 20 years. The Cross Timbers Gazette reported on October 4 that the shop stocks trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials, along with mulch, decorative stone, soils, pottery and seasonal color.

The couple also offers landscape design, installation, irrigation, drainage solutions and outdoor lighting. Their service area includes Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville, Argyle, Bartonville and Lantana, and they say they think of customers as neighbors rather than clients.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville

Lewisville Lake was not always called that. The Army Corps of Engineers did not officially rename the Garza-Little Elm Reservoir "Lewisville Lake" until 1971, even though Congress had named the "Lewisville Dam" back in 1955. Signs with the new name did not go up until 1976.

Fresh-Roasted Coffee, Without Leaving the House

A third-generation LA roaster ships 50+ coffees — single origins, flavored favorites, decafs, even teas — days after roasting. Mix and match Keurig®-compatible boxes for tiered savings up to 34% off. First order? Take an extra 15% off, automatically.

🌊 Lake Lewisville Check

Lewisville Lake sits at 84.3% full, the latest reading posted, dated Sunday, October 4.

The water is at about 518.59 feet, roughly 3.4 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool. That is up from 82.9% a week earlier and matches the Sunday reading, so the lake has steadied after last week's rain. It is still well below the 95.4% recorded a year ago.

Boat ramps, swim areas and Party Cove still have water, though shallow launches get trickier when levels are lower. Check city and Army Corps notices for any closures before you head out.
