🦋 Audrey’s Butterfly Garden and Little Library Ribbon Cutting

Audrey’s Butterfly Effect is a North Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit created in loving memory of Audrey Quezada, honoring her kindness, joyful spirit, and love of books. The organization works to empower exceptional students, celebrate special education educators and paraprofessionals, and expand inclusive resources across the community.

This ribbon cutting marks the Butterfly Garden and Little Library’s move to their new home at the Frederick P. Herring Parks & Recreation Center, and it’s as much a celebration of Audrey’s legacy as it is of the community that keeps it growing. Guests are invited to bring a children’s book to donate and help stock the Little Library. If you’re not able to bring a book, Amazon gift cards are also appreciated and will go toward purchasing books for the library.

Let’s Have an Honest Conversation About Breasts

Breasts are among the most talked about and medically researched parts of the human body, yet many of us are embarrassed to discuss our breast health openly.

Allure Perspectives, a new podcast hosted by Allure editor-in-chief Jessica Cruel, spends its first season exploring how breasts intersect with beauty, health, identity, sexuality, and culture. Episodes feature Olivia Munn on the test she says to take even if your mammogram is clear, sex educator Ericka Hart on reclaiming her body after breast cancer, and a Beverly Hills surgeon on why GLP-1s are driving a surge in breast lifts. All episodes available now.

A New Fund Will Reimburse LISD Educators for Teacher Certification Costs

The Lewisville Education Foundation is putting money behind teachers who want to add or expand their credentials.

The foundation announced last week that it created a Teacher Certification Reimbursement Fund for Lewisville ISD employees. It will be run together with the district's Human Resources Certification Team, which oversees employee credentials, and is meant to repay out-of-pocket costs for educators seeking a new Texas teaching certification or expanding an existing one.

Those costs add up. Certification exams run $116 to $178 each, some certifications carry an extra $78 application fee, and the total can land anywhere from about $200 to $700 depending on the credential. LISD has nearly 4,000 credentialed educators.

The fund is starting with money raised through the foundation's Fund a Dream campaign, which launched this year. LISD employees interested in applying can contact the Lewisville Education Foundation or the district's Human Resources office for how the process works.
