Free festival shuttles run from Electric Cowboy, 1165 S. Stemmons Freeway, 4 PM to midnight, and the DCTA Old Town Station, 617 E. Main St., 4 PM to 12:30 AM.
Saturday, September 26th.
Western Days continues, noon to 11:30 PM. Randy Rogers Band closes the main stage at 10 PM.
Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship, 1 PM, City Hall stage.
Final day to see "She Found Her Way" and "Fresh Ideas 2026" at Lewisville Grand Theater.

Western Days Opens Tonight in Old Town
Western Days, Lewisville's biggest annual festival, opens tonight in Old Town and runs through Saturday night. Doors open at 4 PM with six stages of live music, and the Eli Young Band, the country group with roots at UNT, closes out the Republic Services Main Stage at 10 PM.
Getting in is free before 6 PM both days. After that it runs $15 for anyone 13 and older, with kids 12 and under always free. Food and drinks this year go through RFID wristbands instead of cash or cards at the festival's bars and trucks, so budget a few extra minutes if it is your first time loading one up.
If parking downtown sounds like a headache, free shuttles run starting at 4 PM from Electric Cowboy on South Stemmons Freeway and from the DCTA Old Town Station.

A Dozen Elite Eaters Chase Lewisville's Tamale Title Saturday
Saturday afternoon brings one of Western Days' strangest and most popular attractions back to the City Hall stage: the Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship. A field of the country's top competitive eaters, including James Webb, Geoff Esper, Radim Dvoracek, Derek Hendrickson and Adrian Morgan, will spend ten minutes trying to out eat each other for a $1,750 top prize.
They are chasing a tough number. Joey Chestnut set the event record last year by putting away 96 tamales in that same ten minutes, and Webb told reporters this week the real challenge is not the spice, it is managing thirst without slowing down to drink.
The competition runs under Major League Eating's banner, so this is a rare chance to watch professional competitive eating up close without leaving Old Town.

Last Chance to Catch Two Art Exhibits at The Grand
Two exhibits at the Lewisville Grand Theater close this Saturday, so this weekend is the last chance to see them before Western Days pulls all the attention downtown. "She Found Her Way," a collection from artist Crys Nelson, and "Fresh Ideas 2026," the Visual Arts League's juried show, both wrap up September 26.
Fresh Ideas showcases work from artists across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond, and its award winners were recognized at a ceremony earlier this month. Gallery admission is free, and hours run Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM.
The Grand's next exhibit, "Eye Candy!," hangs starting October 3 and runs through November 7, so there will be a short gap before new work goes up on the walls.

LISD Names Gene Yarrobino Its New Chief Human Resource Officer
Lewisville ISD has a new Chief Human Resource Officer. Gene Yarrobino, who has spent the last few years as managing director of human resources at Frisco ISD, was named to the post earlier this month.
Yarrobino's path to HR runs through the classroom. He started as an elementary teacher in New York, then spent years teaching and later leading campuses as an assistant principal and principal in California and Frisco ISD before moving into human resources management in 2023.
Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp said his mix of HR background and campus leadership experience will be an asset to the district's staff support systems. Yarrobino holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's in computers in education, both from Long Island University's C.W. Post campus.

🕰️ Trivia Day in Lewisville
Jacobsen's Hardware opened around 1890 at the corner of Main and Mill, started by Dutch immigrant C.M. Jacobsen. The big warehouse-style building became a fixture in old downtown photos for decades, stocked with the everyday tools a growing farm town needed.
The building did not make it to modern Old Town. It was torn down in 1942 to make way for Kirkpatrick Garage, part of the wave of change that reshaped Main Street's storefronts through the mid-20th century.

Lewisville Lake is holding at 83.8% full, still the most current reading published as of September 23.
The water sits at 518.48 feet, about 3.5 feet under the 522-foot conservation pool. That is down from 85.3% a week ago and 91.2% a month ago, a slow, steady slide typical for this time of year.
No advisories are in effect. Boat ramps, swim areas, and Party Cove all still have plenty of water under them, though shallow launches keep getting a touch fussier as the level eases down.
